Be Where Your Feet Are
Tonight's Episode
Friends… when was the last time you truly slowed down and appreciated the chapter you’re currently living?
In this short episode, we’re talking about something I think we all need to hear every once in a while. I recently came across a quote that completely shifted my perspective, and it reminded me that while we’re so busy chasing the next promotion, relationship, paycheck, or milestone, we sometimes forget that we’re already living prayers we once asked for.
Join me as I share three simple reminders that have helped me become more present, let go of what’s outside of my control, and appreciate the ordinary moments that one day may become the memories I miss the most.
So grab your tea, your water, or whatever you’re sipping on today, and let’s have a quick conversation.
Infinite blessings, friends. 🤍
Welcome And Why This Matters
SPEAKER_00: Welcome, welcome, welcome to another episode of Sipping Tea with Queen D, and I am your host, Queen D.
SPEAKER_00: If you are new here, welcome.
SPEAKER_00: If you've been rocking with me since the beginning, cha, I appreciate you.
SPEAKER_00: As we all know, and if you are new here, welcome.
SPEAKER_00: This is a new podcast that I have created that simply was just a dream that I had for the last two to three years that I pushed myself to do.
SPEAKER_00: So I appreciate all of my supporters, my listeners, everyone who have just continued to watch me grow as this platform has continued to thrive.
SPEAKER_00: And I truly cannot do it without you.
SPEAKER_00: So please go ahead, grab your tea, your water, your little wine, whatever we are sipping on today, and let's have a quick conversation.
SPEAKER_00: Because today's episode is going to be short and to the point, but I truly think it's a reminder that not only I needed, but I do believe someone else needed too.
The Quote That Stops You
SPEAKER_00: I heard a quote recently that completely stopped me in my tracks.
SPEAKER_00: It stated, 20 years from now, you'll wish you could be exactly where you are today.
SPEAKER_00: And when I heard it, I paused.
SPEAKER_00: Because if we're going to be honest, some of us are constantly chasing the next thing.
SPEAKER_00: We're waiting for Friday, we're waiting for the promotion, we're waiting for that fancy car, we're waiting for Mr.
SPEAKER_00: Wright, Mrs.
SPEAKER_00: Wright.
SPEAKER_00: We're waiting for life to finally feel good enough for us to finally quote unquote have our ish together.
SPEAKER_00: But in doing that, we accidentally skip over the very life we've been praying for.
SPEAKER_00: So today, I just wanted to leave you with three reminders that help me back to the present moment.
SPEAKER_00: It helped me take a second and realize, hold on, D, isn't this what you what you prayed for?
SPEAKER_00: When you were in a room, didn't you pray to have your own space with a washer and dryer?
SPEAKER_00: And now we're complaining about it.
SPEAKER_00: You know, it it I needed these three three reminders to rejuvenate myself.
SPEAKER_00: And I hope that helped this helps you too, friends.
Stop Worrying About Control
SPEAKER_00: Number one, stop worrying about the things that are out of your control.
SPEAKER_00: This is something I have talked about on my podcast because simply we are humans, right?
SPEAKER_00: Some of us are worried creatures.
SPEAKER_00: We worry about anything and everything.
SPEAKER_00: And I always have to remind myself, hold on, D, is this out of your control?
SPEAKER_00: Does this serve you?
SPEAKER_00: Yes or no?
SPEAKER_00: And if it doesn't, then I have to let it go, right?
SPEAKER_00: We spend so much time stressing over situations that haven't happened yet, or trying to control outcomes that were not ours to control in the first place.
SPEAKER_00: And I can say that from you know me being laid off.
SPEAKER_00: I try to control that outcome.
SPEAKER_00: I try to try to see what I did, what I could do.
SPEAKER_00: Listen, what was done is done, D, and you have to just keep moving forward.
SPEAKER_00: You just have to keep swimming, keep keep rowing that boat.
SPEAKER_00: You know what I mean?
SPEAKER_00: And the truth is worrying doesn't change tomorrow.
SPEAKER_00: It only stills today.
SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna say that again because I don't think someone, I don't, I think someone needs to hear this again.
SPEAKER_00: The truth is worrying doesn't change tomorrow.
SPEAKER_00: It only steals today.
SPEAKER_00: It steals your peace.
SPEAKER_00: Protect your peace by focusing on your energy on what you can actually influence and let the rest unfold the way it's supposed to.
SPEAKER_00: Because you have to realize what is in your control and what you're wasting your energy on is the things that are outside of your control.
SPEAKER_00: And you can refocus that energy on things that can actually make a difference.
SPEAKER_00: Okay, friends.
SPEAKER_00: So that brings me to my second point.
Stop Rushing Your Current Chapter
SPEAKER_00: Number two, stop rushing the chapter you're in.
SPEAKER_00: Take a second and smell the flowers.
SPEAKER_00: Whether this season feels beautiful or difficult, it is still your season.
SPEAKER_00: I have a friend, right, who always told me if they got their quote-unquote dream car at this current moment, because of course we all change, right?
SPEAKER_00: He wanted a Genesis and he said, if I get this car, I will always have a smile on my face and you will not have to worry about anything.
SPEAKER_00: And in my head, I said, okay, I'm put your money where your mouth is, right?
SPEAKER_00: And as soon as he got the car, right, it was a newer car, so of course, insurance is a little bit on the higher end, especially for us living in California.
SPEAKER_00: Insurance was through the roof.
SPEAKER_00: And he is that that smile went upside down to a frown.
SPEAKER_00: And I reminded him, hey, this is the car that you dreamed of, right?
SPEAKER_00: This is what you wanted.
SPEAKER_00: So whatever comes with what you dreamed of, you head up.
SPEAKER_00: Checks out, right?
SPEAKER_00: We just have to go ahead and deal with it because you cannot rush the chapter that you're in because this is what you wanted, right?
SPEAKER_00: And it was so funny because as soon as we had that conversation, he said, you know what, you're right.
SPEAKER_00: And I said, Yeah, because how I I do it myself.
SPEAKER_00: How often do you guys do it, right?
SPEAKER_00: We finally reach a goal we've been asking for, and we and before we can even appreciate it, we're already focused on the next problem.
SPEAKER_00: We're already looking at the next issue, we're already looking at the cup half empty instead of looking at it half full.
SPEAKER_00: It's all about your perspective.
SPEAKER_00: And sometimes we have to stop and remind ourselves this is the life I once dreamed about.
SPEAKER_00: Not because it's perfect, but because it's mine.
SPEAKER_00: Take time to smell the flowers in the season you're currently in.
SPEAKER_00: Because I promise, friends, one day this chapter will become a memory.
SPEAKER_00: Which brings me to my last point.
Gratitude For Ordinary Moments
SPEAKER_00: Number three, practice gratitude for the ordinary moment.
SPEAKER_00: Life isn't made up of only vacations, promotions, and huge milestones.
SPEAKER_00: It's not just about the graduations and the big monuments, right?
SPEAKER_00: Life is about Tuesday mornings and Friday evenings.
SPEAKER_00: It's about the phone call from your loved ones.
SPEAKER_00: It's about walking your dog on a lovely day, looking at the birds, looking at clear blue skies, driving down with the windows and just enjoying the breeze, right?
SPEAKER_00: These moments seem so ordinary today, but one day they'll become the memories you wish you could relive.
SPEAKER_00: You gonna wish you can relive walking your dog 40, 50 years from now.
SPEAKER_00: Right?
SPEAKER_00: I know I am.
SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna miss my baby.
SPEAKER_00: That's my baby, right?
SPEAKER_00: Excuse me.
SPEAKER_00: So, and guys, oh my god, I got a little sick on my little vacation.
SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna have to do a little separate episode.
SPEAKER_00: I got me, I got a little sick, friends, but it's okay.
SPEAKER_00: Your girl's drinking tea, your girl be drinking tea, therapy flew up and down, moose the next up and down.
SPEAKER_00: Let me tell you.
SPEAKER_00: Anyways, I digress.
SPEAKER_00: Talk to you about that on another day.
SPEAKER_00: Um, where was I?
SPEAKER_00: Listen.
SPEAKER_00: So don't wait until something is gone to realize how beautiful it was while you had it.
SPEAKER_00: So I'm gonna leave you with this quote because you guys know I love a good quote.
Final Quote And Farewell
SPEAKER_00: Again, the one I shared earlier.
SPEAKER_00: 20 years from now, you'll wish you could be exactly where you are today.
SPEAKER_00: So be where your feet are, slow down, celebrate your progress, smile a little longer, take the picture, call the person, enjoy the chapter you're living instead of constantly trying to escape it.
SPEAKER_00: Because one day, today's ordinary moments will become tomorrow's greatest memories.
SPEAKER_00: So, thank you so much for tuning in for another episode of Sipping Tea with Queen D.
SPEAKER_00: And as always, infinite blessing, my friends.
